Description
HBS Fasteners manufactures premium Solid Dowel Pins, which are essential for maintaining precise registration between mating parts. Unlike fasteners that rely on threads, dowel pins are engineered for a press-fit application into reamed holes. They act as reference points to ensure that machine components can be disassembled and reassembled in the exact same position every time. Our pins are ground to micron-level tolerances to provide maximum stability and resistance to lateral forces.
Technical Specifications
-
Standard: Manufactured in compliance with DIN 6325 (Hardened), DIN 7 (Unhardened), and ISO 8734 standards.
-
Surface Finish: Precision-ground to a mirror-like finish (typically Ra 0.8 or better) to ensure smooth installation and high-contact surface area.
-
End Style: Features chamfered or radiused ends to facilitate easy entry and prevent damage to the hole during installation.
-
Size Range: Available in standard metric diameters from 2mm to 20mm, with various lengths.
-
Tolerance Class: Offered in m6 (press fit) or h6 (slip fit) tolerance classes for exact engineering requirements.
Material & Quality Excellence
-
Stainless Steel: Available in high-grade Austenitic (A2) and hardened Martensitic (400 series) for corrosion resistance and strength.
-
Other Materials: Produced in high-carbon Alloy Steel and Tool Steel for maximum hardness.
-
Manufacturing Power: Produced using raw materials from our in-house wire drawing facility. Every pin undergoes a rigorous heat treatment process followed by centerless grinding to achieve the perfect balance of toughness and dimensional accuracy.
-
Hardness: Heat-treated to high Rockwell (HRC) values to prevent deformation or shearing under heavy mechanical loads.
Key Application Areas
-
Tool & Die Making: Used as locating pins for molds, jigs, and fixtures to ensure perfect alignment of precision parts.
-
Automotive Engineering: Critical for aligning engine blocks, cylinder heads, and transmission housings.
-
Industrial Machinery: Ideal for gearbox assemblies and rotating equipment where components must remain perfectly synchronized.
-
Aerospace: Used in high-precision structural assemblies where vibration resistance and exact positioning are mandatory.
