Description
HBS Fasteners manufactures premium Square Washers, the preferred choice for structural and heavy-construction applications. Unlike round washers, the square geometry provides a significantly larger bearing surface, which prevents the bolt head or nut from pulling through or “sinking” into soft materials like wood or thin metal. These washers are also commonly used in “C-channels” and “U-beams” because their flat edges prevent them from rotating during tightening, making them ideal for restricted spaces where a standard washer might spin.
Technical Specifications
-
Standard: Manufactured in accordance with DIN 436 (Standard Square) or DIN 434 / DIN 435 (Tapered Square for U/I Beams).
-
Design Feature: Flat or beveled (tapered) square profile for specialized structural alignment.
-
Functionality: Provides a stable, non-rotational base for high-torque bolting.
-
Size Range: Available in metric sizes from M6 up to M36 and above, with various thicknesses to handle extreme loads.
-
Customization: Available with round or square central holes (for use with Carriage Bolts).
Material & Quality Excellence
-
Stainless Steel: Available in A2 (304) and A4 (316) for superior durability in coastal construction and chemical plants.
-
Other Materials: Produced in Mild Steel, High-Tensile Carbon Steel, and Hot-Rolled Steel for heavy industrial use.
-
In-House Control: Produced using raw materials from our own facility. We ensure that the edges are clean and the thickness is uniform, providing a perfectly flat contact area that eliminates “point-loading” which can lead to material cracks.
-
Surface Finishing: Options include Hot Dip Galvanized (HDG) (the industry standard for outdoor timber/steel work), Zinc Plating, and Black Phosphate.
Key Application Areas
-
Timber Construction: Essential for log homes, decking, and roofing where bolts need a wide base to prevent wood crushing.
-
Structural Steelwork: Used in bridge building and skyscraper frames to distribute tension across girders and beams.
-
Railway Infrastructure: Used in track fastening systems and sleepers where stability under heavy dynamic loads is critical.
-
Concrete & Masonry: Used with anchor bolts to provide a secure, wide-reaching hold in foundation work.
