Star Washer

Description

HBS Fasteners manufactures premium Star Washers, also known as Serrated Lock Washers. These fasteners are specifically engineered for applications where standard spring washers might fail due to intense vibration or the need for electrical continuity. The “teeth” are twisted to create a spring-like tension; when the nut or bolt is tightened, these teeth bite into the material surface. This creates a multi-point mechanical bond that prevents the fastener from backing off. Additionally, by piercing through paint, scales, or corrosion on the base metal, they provide an excellent path for electrical grounding.

Technical Specifications

• Types Available:

  • External Tooth (DIN 6798-A): Teeth on the outer edge for maximum torsional resistance and use with large-head fasteners.

  • Internal Tooth (DIN 6798-J): Teeth on the inner edge for a cleaner aesthetic and use with smaller-head fasteners like Cheese or Pan head screws.

• Standard: Manufactured in accordance with DIN 6798.

• Locking Mechanism: Overlapping internal or external teeth provide a “bite” that resists counter-rotation.

• Size Range: Available in metric sizes from M2 to M30.

Material & Quality Excellence

• Stainless Steel: Available in A2 (304) and A4 (316) for corrosion resistance in electronics and outdoor enclosures.

• Other Materials: Produced in High-Tensile Spring Steel (65Mn) for maximum hardness to ensure the teeth do not flatten during high-torque tightening.

• In-House Control: Utilizing raw materials from our own facility, we ensure a precision heat-treatment process. This gives the teeth the necessary “spring” and hardness to penetrate surfaces without becoming brittle.

• Surface Finishing: Options include Zinc Plating, Nickel Plating (popular for electrical contacts), Tin Plating, and Black Oxide.
