External Tooth Washers

HBS Fasteners manufactures premium External Tooth Washers, engineered for applications where structural integrity and electrical continuity are paramount. Unlike standard flat washers, the teeth of this washer are twisted to create a “spring” effect. When tightened under a screw head or nut, these teeth bite into the surface of the component, creating a mechanical lock that is highly resistant to rotation. This “biting” action also cuts through paint, rust, or surface coatings, making them the industry standard for grounding connections in electrical assemblies.

Technical Specifications

• Standard: Manufactured in accordance with DIN 6798-A.

• Design Feature: Teeth are located on the outer diameter to provide a larger footprint and maximum torsional resistance.

• Locking Mechanism: Twisted teeth provide a multi-point contact that creates high friction and prevents the fastener from backing off.

• Size Range: Available in standard metric sizes from M2 to M30.

• Compatibility: Best suited for use with fasteners that have a head diameter larger than the washer’s outer diameter, such as Hex bolts or Pan head screws.

• Stainless Steel: Available in A2 (304) and A4 (316) for superior corrosion resistance in electronic and marine environments.

• Other Materials: Produced in High-Tensile Spring Steel (65Mn) for maximum hardness and “bite” strength.

• In-House Control: Produced using raw materials from our own facility. We ensure precise heat treatment so that the teeth remain sharp and resilient, allowing them to penetrate surfaces without flattening or breaking.

• Surface Finishing: Options include Zinc Plating, Black Oxide, Nickel Plating (for electronics), and Tin Plating (for enhanced conductivity).
